Updates
In partnership with regional laboratories, Optica Egypt unveiled the Open Source Photonics track, providing Egyptian engineering students and researchers with open PDK design kits, gdsfactory training, and preparation for multi-project wafer (MPW) fabrication runs.
Optica Egypt convened its first cross-university coordination meeting with the Chartered Student Chapter at The American University in Cairo (AUC), setting a nationwide roadmap to charter new chapters at Cairo University, Ain Shams University, and Alexandria University.
Optica officially approved the charter of the Optica Egypt Local Section on 10 September 2026, establishing a formal national section dedicated to advancing photonics education, research collaboration, and industry partnership across Egypt.
Global affiliation
Optica is dedicated to promoting the generation, application, and archiving of knowledge in optics and photonics. As the official local section in Egypt, we provide members with direct access to Optica technical groups, student travel grants, and peer-reviewed journals.
